Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC)

We specialize in steam activated coconut shell based Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC).

Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC) typically has a diameter less than 1 mm in size (with an average diameter between 0.15 and 0.25mm) and an apparent density ranging between 23 and 46 lb/ft3, depending on the material used and manufacturing process. ASTM classifies particle sizes corresponding to an 80-mesh sieve (0.177 mm) and smaller as PAC.

This type of carbon has been pulverized into powder and is often used in batch purification processes. The small particle size enables it to be added easily to water, interact with the contaminants and then be easily removed, absorbing negative tastes and odours.
